American Red Cross Central West Virginia Chapter
Service to Armed Forces
The American Red Cross is uniquely equipped to provide worldwide communications and a support network for military personnel and their families. The Red Cross provides a connection to relay urgent information - a family crisis, a death in the family, a financial emergency, or a joyous birth.
Red Cross emergency communications provide military personnel with verified information to help them make decisions regarding emergency leave, deferment, humanitarian reassignment and dependency discharge. The Red Cross may provide access to financial assistance when an emergency arises that requires the presence of a military service member or his or her family. Financial assistance is provided for those military service members who demonstrate a need for funds for such things as emergency travel, burial assistance, and urgent needs such as food and shelter. These funds are made available by military aid societies. Referrals to specialized sources of help are also available.
Service to Armed Forces is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you need emergency assistance now, call (304) 340-3650.
Please have the following ready when you call:
  • service member's full name
  • branch of service
  • social security number
  • rank
  • date of birth
  • complete military address
